Usually low ICP occures when the engine has
ran for a while unless its a total failure. Internal leaks can occure at the STC (snap to connect) fitting which connects the Hi Pressure pump to the tube. There are branch tube fractures and leaks at the connection from the branch tube to the stand pipe. There are also orings that leak at the Pucks that supply the oil to the injectors. I have even seen injectors leak bad enough to effect the ICP. I have seen many of them start and run fine for an hour or two and then run like crap. The oil looses its viscosity as it heats up. A fracture in a branch tube wont open up till the engine is hot. A small leak is much harder to find that a total failure. He may not have enough experiance to troubleshoot this engine adequately. I have sent alot of guys to training on this engine but only a few really understood it. Ihere is no test for the IDM. IDMs that have a coil with hi resistance also follow the rule "heat builds resistance". If we suspected the IDM we would swap it with a donor. Meaning we would rob it off another truck for testing purposes.
